JoAn Pirtle Early Childhood Center

The BCYC Early Childhood Development Program is a childcare program for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years old that provides child enrichment though music, creative arts, and recreational activities.

History and Purpose
The Child Development Center is operated by the Belton Christian Youth Center. BCYC has been serving families since 1982. We currently serve afterschool children in the fall and spring semesters as well as the summer months. We also offer educational, recreational and sports programs at our facility. It is a blessing to have a local facility that offers such services in a Christian environment. Our mission has not changed, and with your assistance, we are truly changing lives and leading children to the light of Jesus Christ in discipline and love.

Why JoAn Pirtle Early Childhood Center?

Without JoAn Pirtle Dillard, the early childhood center would not exist. Mrs. Dillard's continuous support, contributions, and her amazing generous heart are what made this center possible. She and her husband, Douglas, continue to be in the lives of these children by coming to visit with them and our staff.

Our goal is to help the children in their cognitive, physical, social, emotional, creative, language and spiritual development. We provide experiences that are appropriate for each child and age group and are consistent with our Christian values.

The program is designed to:

  • Promote each child’s spiritual development.

  • Develop safe and healthy habits in young children with an emphasis on proper hygiene, sound nutrition, exercise and physical care.

  • Foster positive self-esteem.

  • Provide opportunities for creative expression.

  • Support the development of social skills such as sharing, cooperation generosity, and empathy.

  • Stimulate cognitive problem solving skills with an emphasis on the concepts of cause and effect, classification, space, time, numbers, shapes and colors.

  • Strengthen communication skills necessary for listening, reading, writing and speaking by providing an environment rich in the practical uses of words.
