In 1975, two local businessmen, Jerry Brentham and Roy Wood, became convinced that due to a lack of constructive alternatives too many of the area youth found themselves getting into trouble. Much of the time they were lacking direction and roaming the streets with time on their hands and nothing to do.
All of their prayers, patience, and persistence paid off in June of 1982, when the youth center began operations in a Belton elementary school gymnasium. At the request of numerous parents, activities at the facility were expanded to be year-round. In 1999, BCYC moved to its current location and the facility has been thriving ever since.
Belton Christian Youth Center continues to grow, having approximately 30,000 square feet of building space, serving nearly 1,200 students annually, and offering many programs and recreational activities throughout the year. We are grateful for the continued assistance of our dedicated partners and the surrounding community.
